Differences with Vary Exit Points in regards to IASP

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document contains information on the differences with Vary Exit Points with regard to IASP.

Resolving The Problem

Following is information about Vary Exit Points with regard to IASP:

ASP groups are varied on/off as a group and, therefore, the behavior of execution for exit programs is different than other devices. For example:
o When an IASP device is passed to the VRYCFG command, the exit programs registered for an IASP device will be called only once for all IASPs in an ASP group.
o The name of the object passed to the exit program will be the name of the object passed to the VRYCFG command.
Remember that any IASP in an ASP group can be passed to VRYCFG, and therefore to the exit program.
Performance Considerations
o The implementation of exit points could significantly impact the time required to vary on/off the IASP because vary processing will wait for the completion of the user programs to complete before continuing with vary processing.
o Hangs, loops, and so on, within the user exit program hang the vary on processing.
