Differences in date mapping between FileNet Imaging Services and FileNet Content Engine

Question & Answer

Question

What are the differences between how dates are stored in Image Services (IS) and Content Engine (CE)?

Answer

Imaging Services uses an integer method to store dates; they are represented by a positive or negative number corresponding to the number of days after or before January 1, 1970.
Content Engine stores the dates 'normally', however, very old dates can run into issues. CE's minimum date is January 1, 1753. Dates between January 1, 1601 and December 31, 1752 will be stored as January 1, 1753. Dates earlier than 1601 can cause issues with the CFS-IS processes and should be avoided if possible.

If such dates need to be kept as properties, consider storing them as text data in a string property.
