Troubleshooting
Problem
You are upgrading to a new release of the z/OS operating system and are initializing CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) with the system initialization table (SIT) parameter HPO=YES. You receive message DFHSR0606 with an abend FD7 and CICS fails to initialize.
Cause
The HPO SVC, DFHHPSVC, is not installed in the NUCLEUS of the new MVS LPAR.
Diagnosing The Problem
For information on the FD7 abend, see z/OS MVS System Codes, section System completion codes Fnn in the z/OS documentation. The last 2 digits of the completion code, nn, are the operand of the SVC instruction in hexadecimal. Hexadecimal x'D7' equates to SVC 215, which is the default SVC number for the high-performance option (HPO).
Resolving The Problem
Install the HPO SVC, DFHHPSVC in the NUCLEUS. Refer to Selecting the high-performance option (HPO) in the CICS TS documentation for more information on installing the SVC.
