Device's Device Types are Not Set Properly

Troubleshooting

Problem

When a discovery is performed against a new device record, a number of device type definitions are checked against walkable SNMP OIDs as well as a number of other settable fields to determine what type of device it is.  These device type definitions are associated with a number of Object Type definitions to determine what Object Types should be tested for potential objects in discovery.
When a device type is not matched, its object types may not be tested against the device unless another device type that is confirmed also has those object types.

Symptom

Objects of a desired type are not discovered.  For example, Object Types specific to Cisco IOS will not be discovered unless the device is matched against the Cisco IOS device type.
