Question & Answer
Question
How do I tell if IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook is using Product Access Management?
Cause
Sometimes when installing Analyst's Notebook, a client or Organization may elect to enable a form of software licensing that is supplied with Analyst's Notebook known as Product Access Management (PAM).
PAM will affect the way Analyst's Notebook starts up, and during troubleshooting it is useful to be able to recognise whether PAM is enabled or not.
Answer
The first sign that PAM might be installed is red text being visible in the upper left hand corner of the Analyst's Notebook splash screen at startup, an example of which is seen below.
Note: this is not the most sure way of checking if PAM is installed, but if the red text does appear, then it is probably the quickest.

If PAM is not installed, the text would likely not be present and look more like the splash screen seen below.

Note: This text may not be present on your install.
Once inside the application, the most sure-fire way to check that PAM is installed, is to navigate to the menu toolbar at the top of the application and select Help -> About Analyst's Notebook 8.

An About IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook 8 window like one of the following will appear.
If PAM is not installed, then the about box will look something like the following.

If PAM is installed, then the about box will look something like the following. (Note the extra box with License information

The box containing the license information also indicates to you where the license has been taken from (Network location, local license etc), what it's ID is, and the type of license.
