Question & Answer
Question
Where is db2diag.log located for a Tivoli Storage Manager instance?
Answer
Note: If there are multiple instances of Tivoli Storage Manager, make sure the correct instance user is used to issue the db2 command.
For Unix/Linux:
1. Log in as the instance user. For example:
su - tsminst1
2. cd /opt/tivoli/tsm/db2/bin
For Windows:
Open a DB2 command window by either:
1. Typing "db2cmd" from a Windows command prompt.
Or
2. Going to the Start menu > IBM DB2 DB2TSM1 > DB2 Command Window
General example of the DB2 command to issue. (The grep is for Unix) :
Issue the following db2 commands:
1. db2 connect to TSMDB1
2. db2 get dbm cfg | grep DIAGPATH <---Unix, For Windows search this output for DIAGPATH
- for example
Diagnostic data directory path (DIAGPATH) = /home/tsminst1/sqllib/db2dump
The db2diag.log will be located as set in the (DIAGPATH). In this Unix example it is located at:
/home/tsminst1/sqllib/db2dump
When sending in the db2diag.log look for the timestamp and send in the appropriate db2diag.#.log file to support.
