Determining the Format Level ID

Troubleshooting

Problem

The commands to examine the format level identifier of files and programs are provided in this document.

Resolving The Problem

To determine if a program will level check due to file changes, first determine the Format Level Identifier on the file using the DSPFD command. Then, determine the Format Level Identifier on the program using the DSPPGMREF command. If the identifiers do not match, the program will level check on the file if LVLCHK(YES) is specified for the file. More information can be found in the IBM DB2 for AS/400 Database Programming manual (SC41-2702-02) located online at the following Web site:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/index.jsp

Both commands can display to an output file, which provides the ability to process multiple files with a CL program.
