Removing Memory Modules

Before You Begin

⚠️ Important: Only perform basic troubleshooting or component replacement if it's explicitly allowed in your product documentation or advised by official support. Unauthorized servicing may void your warranty.

  1. Review and adhere to all safety instructions included with your system.
  2. Follow the guidelines outlined in the Before working inside your system section.
  3. Detach the cooling shroud.
  4. If present, remove the cooling fan assembly.

🔎 Note: Memory modules may remain hot for a while after shutdown. Allow them to cool before handling. Always hold modules by their edges, avoiding contact with components or connectors.

⚠️ Caution: Empty memory slots must be filled with blanks to maintain proper airflow. Only remove blanks if you're installing memory in that slot.

Procedure

  2. Carefully press the release tabs on both sides of the slot to disengage the module.
  3. Gently lift the module out, holding it by the edges.

  • If you're not replacing the module, insert a blank into the empty slot.
  • Reinstall the cooling shroud.
  • If removed earlier, reinstall the 165 W heat sink.
  • Complete the steps in the After working inside your system section.
