Troubleshooting
Problem
Instructions for special circumstances that require ALL problem logs be removed from WRKPRB.
Resolving The Problem
Examples of when these instructions may be useful:
- A large number of problem logs were created due to a hardware problem and ALL problem log entries can be removed.
- Problem logs were generated while the date was incorrectly set to some time in the future, and they cannot be removed using the normal means unless the problems are closed, and the date is set to a date to permit the problem records to be deleted. This procedure is an easier way to accomplish the objective of deleting ALL problem records.
Try DLTPRB. If that fails to delete all problems from the problem log, on the operating system command line type the following:
Note: This will remove ALL problem log entries, not just the entries associated to a certain hardware problem.
CLRPFM FILE(QUSRSYS/QASXPROB)
Press the Enter key.
Once QASXPROB is cleared, all other problem log files should also be cleared.
WRKF QUSRSYS/QASX*
Clear the files listed. It is something as follow:
QASXCALL
QASXDTA
QASXEVT
QASXFRU
QASXNOTE
QASXPROB
QASXPROB2 <----- this is a logical file and should not be cleared.
QASXPTF
QASXSYMP
QASXURI
The CLRPFM command has a second parameter of MBR, which has a default value of *FIRST. This default of *FIRST is the correct value for clearing all problems from the problem log.

After you perform the clear operation, check to see if there are any APAR libraries that were associated with the problems in the problem log. To search type the following:
WRKOBJ OBJ(QSC*) OBJTYPE(*LIB)
Press the Enter key.
WRKOBJ OBJ(QSC*) OBJTYPE(*LIB)
Press the Enter key.
The APAR libraries will have a name of the form QSCnnnnnnn where nnnnnnn is a string of digits and the text for the file begins with APAR - problem nnnnnnnnnn where nnnnnnnnnn is a string of digits. The remainder of the text varies. Each of these files should be deleted by typing 4=Delete next to each file.
