DELETE VOLUME command doesn't remove the file from the file system

Troubleshooting


Problem

The DELETE VOLUME command is run to delete a random disk or a private file volume. The command successfully remove the entry from the IBM Spectrum Protect server configuration but does not delete the corresponding file from the filesystem.

Symptom

The following administrative command is used to delete the volume IBM Spectrum Protect server configuration :

delete vol /sanfs/file/00004201.BFS"

The command successfully removes the "/sanfs/file/00004201.BFS" from the configuration but the volume remains on the filesystem, i.e,

# ls -al /sanfs/file/00004201.BFS
-rw------- 1 tsminst1 tsmsrvrs 104857600 Apr 14 14:50 /sanfs/file/00004201.BFS
