Define the Attribute Domain Details

About this task

An attribute domainis a set of attribute groups containing similar attribute types. Forexample the item attribute domain contains attribute groups thatare used for items. You can create attribute groups and their associatedattributes under the ItemAttribute domain. The unique identifier (ID)of the attribute domain is ItemAttribute and this attribute domainID is created when a catalog organization is created in the ApplicationsManager.

You can define the details of the attributedomain from the Attribute Management screen.

Todefine the details of the attribute domain:

Procedure

  1. Navigate to theAttribute Management screen. To navigate to the Attribute Managementscreen perform the following steps:
    1. Log in to Sterling Business Center as anItem Administrator.
    2. From the Products home page click ManageAttributes in the Catalog panel.

      The Attribute Management screen is displayed.

  2. In the Attribute Management screen performthe following steps:
    • In the Short Description* text box entera brief description of the attribute domain. The attribute domainin the Item Attributes tree will be identified by this description.
    • In the Long Description text box entera detailed description of the attribute domain. This detailed descriptiontypically contains any additional information about the attributedomain.

      Notes:

    • The Attribute Domain ID is a read-only box.
    • * indicates that the field is mandatory.
  3. In the Attribute Management screen click Save.
    Note: If more than one locale isconfigured the Localize icon is displayed adjacent to allthe localizable fields and the Localize related task is displayedin the Related Tasks panel. The localizable fieldssuch as Short Description Long Description and so on are alwaysdisplayed in the base locale irrespective of the user locale. Forexample if Sterling Business Center islocalized to French with the base locale as English and a Frenchuser logs in to Sterling Business Center allthe UI literals except the localizable fields are displayed in French.The localizable fields are displayed in English. The user can clickeither the Localize icon or Localize to localize a fieldthat is displayed in the base locale.

    Thedetails of the attribute domain are defined. You can now create attributegroups for the attribute domain and associate the corresponding attributesto these attribute groups.
