Problem

When a customer uses the Configuration Wizard in the Advanced Management Module (AMM) and creates the SSL Certificate, the Configuration Wizard automatically populates the MM Hostname field of the certificate using the pre-programmed AMM name. Usually this will contain a "#" character. If this character is not removed from the MM Hostname field, the Configuration Wizard will prompt the user with an error. The SSL Certificate cannot be saved.

Symptom

When a customer uses the Configuration Wizard in the Advanced Management Module (AMM) and creates the SSL Certificate, the Configuration Wizard automatically populates the MM Hostname field of the certificate using the pre-programmed AMM name.

Usually this will contain a "#" character. If this character is not removed from the MM Hostname field, the Configuration Wizard will prompt the user with an error.

The SSL Certificate cannot be saved.

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following IBM servers:

  • BladeCenter Chassis, type 7967, any model
  • BladeCenter Chassis, type 8677, any model
  • BladeCenter H, type 7989, any model
  • BladeCenter H, type 8852, any model
  • BladeCenter HT, type 8740, any model
  • BladeCenter HT, type 8750, any model
  • BladeCenter S, type 1948, any model
  • BladeCenter S, type 8886, any model
  • BladeCenter T, type 8720, any model
  • BladeCenter T, type 8730, any model

Solution

This behavior will be corrected in a future release.

The Target date for this release is scheduled for Fourth Quarter 2007.

The fix is to change the AMM code to use the hostname.

Workaround

Manually change the MM Hostname field to remove unexpected characters. Save the SSL Certificate.

Additional information

When the unexpected characters are removed, the Configuration Wizard will validate the field successfully and allow it to be saved.
