DedicatedFleet Shipping Process

Sterling TMS provides a robustset of features for managingyour dedicated fleet and assigning shipments to the trucks in yourfleet.

About this task

The following processshows the basic steps to managing shipmentsin Execution.

Procedure

  1. As a new Sterling TMS userselect your Dedicated Fleetoptions.
  2. Search for the dedicated fleet assets(tractors) you wantto manage. These assets appear in the Tractors table at the top ofthe Dedicated Fleets tab. For exampleyou mightwant to search for trucks in the most current billing cycle.
  3. Click the + icon in a row of the Tractors tableto expandthe selection and show the shipment and non-shipment legs assignedto this truck.
  4. Select the truck right-clickand select DriverInfo to view the domicile information for this truck.You can use this information to make better decisions about whichshipments to assign to this truck.
  5. Search forthe shipments you want to assign to your dedicatedfleet. These shipments appear in the Available Shipments table atthe bottom of the Dedicated Fleets tab.
  6. Assign a shipment to a truck:
    • Selectthe truck in the Tractors table.
    • Right-click on the shipmentand select Assign Shipment toplace this shipment on the selected truck.
  7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to assign additional shipments tothis truck.
  8. Add non-shipment legs such asrepositioning or backhaulsegments to complete the route for this truck. To add non-shipmentlegs select the truck in the Tractors table and click AddLeg.
  9. Repeat Steps 2 through 8 toassign shipments to other trucksin the dedicated fleet.
