Datastore usage on disk

Troubleshooting

Problem

Datastore usage on disk

Resolving The Problem

Issue

vCenter triggers a datastore usage on disk alarm.

Troubleshooting

Remediation steps include:

  1. Delete unneeded snapshots on VM on the datastore in question.
  2. Remove unneeded VMs, if possible.
  3. If the datastore is ISCSI/NFS, expand capacity of the datastore, or add additional datastores and move VMs to this new datastore. Refer to the IBM Cloud article Adding NFS storage to vCenter Server instances
  4. If the datastore is vSAN, add additional vSphere ESXi hosts, refer to the IBM Cloud article Adding ESXi server to vCenter Server instances.
