DataStage ODBC drivers for Microsoft Access

Question & Answer

Question

Does DataStage for Unix or Linux have ODBC drivers to connect to Microsoft Access?

Answer

DataStage for Unix or Linux currently does not have an ODBC driver for Microsoft Access.
However, there are a few options.

1. Use DataDirect SequeLink Drivers. Note: IBM does not have an
agreement to ship or resell DataDirect Sequelink drivers.

2. Use the iWay client. IBM can resell iWay to be used in a gateway architecture.

The iWay client (ODBC Connector) is installed on the DataStage server.
This can make the platform jump from Unix or Linux to Windows.

On the Windows machine where Microsoft Access resides, the iWay server and ODBC
adapter are installed and configured with Microsoft's ODBC driver for Access.

3. Alternatively, many Access users will also have SQL Server, and
there are export utilities to move data from Access tables into SQL Server.
From there, data can be extracted via DataDirect ODBC drivers in DataStage on Unix / Linux.
