A database connection request fails with SQL5055C sqlstate 58031

Troubleshooting


Problem

A database connect or a restore command fails with the following error: SQL5055C The content of the database configuration file is not valid. SQLSTATE=58031

Symptom


A connect or a database restore command fails during sanity check attempting to access SQLDBCONF file. This file contains database configuration parameters for a particular database, as well as flags that indicate the status of the database.

   SQL5055C  The content of the database configuration file is not valid.
  SQLSTATE=58031

You will also notice the following entry into the db2diag.log file:

   FUNCTION: DB2 UDB, config/install, sqlf_read_db_and_verify, probe:40
   RETCODE : ZRC=0xFFFFEC41=-5055
