What determines the data-transfer behavior for backup and recovery operations using Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) with Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP)?
Answer
During NDMP operations, data does not flow through either the TSM client or the TSM server. The data-transfer rate for NDMP operations is dictated by the NAS device and the tape device. The number of bytes reported as transferred is determined by the NAS device. If delays occur during NDMP operations, this may also be caused by the NAS design and implementation.
