Why is setupfcm.exe used for the Data Protection for SQL installation

Cause

The installer for the Data Protection for SQL and/or the Data Protection for Exchange is also used for the installation of the FlashCopy Manager products.

Answer

The consolidated installer is named setupfcm.exe. The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases, Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server manual notes the necessity to run the setupfcm.exe executable in the 'Quick Install' section.

After the setupfcm finishes it is necessary to run the configuration wizard in the GUI at least once to complete the installation. This will copy the necessary files to the appropriate directories, the default is c:\Progam Files\Tivoli\TSM\TDPSQL.
