Body
Everyone is alking about IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, the next wave in IBM’s #data protection and recovery portfolio. It's modern technology is easy to use, fast and low cost. Unlike a lot of products, you don’t have to be a backup expert to use IBM Spectrum Protect Plus. The software is simple to deploy and can be ready to go in as little as 15 minutes by installing a pre-built virtual machine.
"IBM has been a leader in data protection for many years, so it should come as no surprise that as production platforms and business expectations continue to evolve, so would the IBM offerings," said Jason Buffington, principal analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. "IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is aimed to address a few of the most critical data protection challenges facing IT organizations of all sizes: Virtualization and Recovery Agility. With its SLA-centric design, organizations have a refreshingly new and compelling alternative for modern data protection and availability."

Extends the capabilities of IBM Spectrum Protect
IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is a great solution for day to day operational recovery, but your organization might still need to keep #data for longer periods of time in order to meet regulatory or compliance goals. If this is the case, IBM Spectrum Protect Plus can integrate with the IBM Spectrum Protect product. The data is copied from IBM Spectrum Protect Plus to IBM Spectrum Protect, and it can be moved to any #storage tiers that are supported by IBM Spectrum Protect; this includes disk, a wide range of tape devices, multiple #cloud data stores, and object storage, like IBM Cloud Object Storage. Further, IBM Spectrum Protect #hybridcloud capabilities can rapidly move data from on-premises back-end storage to public or private clouds.
Simple to use and SLA-based protection
Ease of use is very important and IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is as easy as pick, click and your done! You select the recovery service level that you require, either picking from one of the pre-defined gold, silver and bronze SLAs, or you can create your own to meet your environment. Then you apply that service level to one or more virtual machines and you’re done! Again, it's that easy! If you miss any virtual machines (VM), the dashboard view quickly identifies any that were missed so you can correct them and make sure you’re covered.
VM Protection and instant recovery and access
IBM Spectrum Protect Plus let’s you use any #storage you wish, from speedy #allflash to disk-based block storage or network attached storage (NAS).
Backups are stored as snapshot images that can’t ever be overwritten; this provides the kind of data protection security you need to always be able to return to a captured data point. And while data protection is the main use case for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, it’s more than just a backup solution. You can use it to derive real business value from your backup data. With IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, you can quickly and easily spin up virtual machines. You can use these for any situation where users need access to data. For example, test-development scenarios, reporting or #analytics.
Global search and restore
IBM Spectrum Protect Plus has a catalog that indexes and records all backups and virtual machines (VM), that gives you unified search capability across your entire backup environment. If needed, you can index files as well, giving you file-level search and restore for select VMs or all your VMs. You can even search across VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisor environments in a single operation; this global search is a significant advancement over other solutions that only allow you search within a one VM.
