D NET,Directory,ID=LUA,SCOPE=NSEARCH not finding resource

Troubleshooting

Problem

Issuing a D NET,Directory,ID=LUA,SCOPE=NSEARCH is not finding a resource in this NETID or any NETID.

Cause

BN=YES and BNDYN=FULL are coded in the VTAM start options for this node. This would normally allow searching and the resource should be found. However, there is a default Adjacent Cluster Table coded for this NETID on this node. BNDYN=NONE is coded on this table and this CP name is not included in the table. The Adjacent Cluster Table overrides the VTAM start options. With BNDYN=NONE and without this CP NAME in the table, VTAM will not search its own NETID.

Resolving The Problem

Select one of the following solutions:

  • Code BNDYN=FULL in the ADJCLUST table.

  • Put this CP NAME in the default table and also add the necessary adjacent CP's to search the desired NETIDs.

  • Do not code a table at all and leave the VTAM start option with BNDYN=FULL.
