CWXN Transactions Experience Long Dispatch on S8 TCB in CICS TS for z/OS Due to Low GSKSRVR SSL Service Class Priority

Question & Answer

Question

Why do some of my CWXN tasks, coming through an SSL port, have long response times on the S8 TCB in CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS)?

Answer

If you are specifying CICS system initialization table (SIT) parameter- SSLCACHE=SYSPLEX, you are using the z/OS system SSL started task- GSKSRVR. Because CICS is relying on services from GSKSRVR, you should verify that it is in an appropriate service class and dispatching priority. A CICS task requesting sysplex caching support of SSL will sit in a wait while a GSKSRVR worker task completes the request, so a low dispatching priority for GSKSRVR will directly affect the speed at which these CICS requests are processed.

Consider increasing the priority of GSKSRVR to match the priority of the CICS region.
