Problem

Depending on the adapter being used, Cognos Web Services (CWS) may communicate with a Cognos Application using a gateway that is installed on a Web server with HTTP compression enabled. This document describes how to configure CWS to allow for the compression. [Error Message -

Symptom

Exception: PRS-CWS-0001 Adapter error. <Error Code="103" Msg="PowerPlay error."></Error>

If the logging level for CWS is set to debug, the cwslog.log file will show 'garbage' binary data in the HTTP data section:
