Shippers can define custom mileage data and use it instead of standardmileage sources such as PC Miler and MileMaker. Custom mileage sourcesare designed for use with carrier contract rating.
For example:
- Using rail distance that is provided by the carrier to rate fuelsurcharges on rail shipments.
- Using special route distances in certain lanes with certain carriersto calculate charges for over-dimensional routes.
