Symptom
Hotplug function will not be enabled on a disabled slot when the system is rebooted using the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys.
Affected configuration
The system is a Netfinity 7000 M10 server, Type 8680, any Model.
The system is configured with 1-4 processors.
Fix
Use the power on/off button or the reset button on the front panel of the system to reboot, if required, or follow the instructions in the "IBM PCI Hot Plug Services and Fault Tolerant Management Interface for Windows NT 4.0 User Guide, Third Edition". The User Guide is available in .PDF format from this link .
Workaround
Perform a cold boot or use the Hotplug Guide when adding adapters.
Details
Ctrl-Alt-Delete does not support the hotplug reset function.
It is required that you follow the "Hotplug Services Guide" or perform a cold boot by pressing either the power on/off button or reset button on the front panel of the system. This will allow for the system hotplug functions (hardware and software) to be active.
NOTE: Ensure that the PCI power switch is on at the adapter slot.
