Creating a New Autonumber in Maximo

Question & Answer

Question

How do I create a new autonumber in Maximo?

Answer

Launch Database Configuration from the System Configuration / Platform Configuration Go To menu.

Select an Object.

Select the Attributes tab.

Select New Row.

Enter a unique attribute name.

Check the Can Autonumber checkbox, this will open the Autonumber field.

You can select an existing Autonumber or enter a new autonumber name.

Enter a new autonumber name, you will be prompted that the autonumber does not exist, would you like to create it?

Select OK.

Save.

You will now be able to use this Autonumber.

In the Organizations application you will be able to select this Autonumber and set the seed and add a prefix if you wish.

Select the Organization you are working in.

From the Select Action menu select Autonumber Setup and the level you want to use the autonumber at.

Either select the Autonumber or select New Row to bring the autonumber to that level.

Add your seed and prefix.

Save.
