Create an Extended Decimal Attribute and Assign Specific Numbersto the Attribute

About this task

You can create an extendeddecimal attribute and specify a range of allowed numbers and allowany number or a range of incremental values to the decimal attribute.

Note: Thefields marked with * are mandatory.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the Object Extensibilityscreen. To navigate to the Object Extensibility screen perform thefollowing steps:
    1. Log in to Sterling Business Center asan administrator.
    2. From the System Setup Home pageexpand the Customizations menu and then click ObjectExtensibility.
    The Object Extensibility screen is displayed.
  2. From the Extensible Objects treeselect the extensible object to which the attribute you create isto be added.
  3. Click the Add button in the ExtendedAttributes panel. The Customize Attribute dialogbox is displayed. By default the Create A New Attribute radiobutton is selected.
  4. In the AttributeID* box enter a unique identifier (ID) for the attribute. Thisidentifier cannot be modified after it has been defined. Do not usea space or special characters in the Attribute ID.
  5. In the ShortDescription* box enter a brief description of the attribute.This short description is also displayed in the end-user applicationand other screens in Sterling Business Center whichdisplay attributes.
  6. In the LongDescription box enter a detailed description of the attribute.This detailed description typically contains any additional informationabout the attribute.
  7. From the Value Type drop-down listselect Decimal.
  8. Select the This attribute will be used as search criteria checkbox to allow this attribute to be searched.
  9. Click Save. The NumberAttributes Properties - Decimal dialog box is displayed
    Note: Theextended attributes are linked to database columns of a specific datatypeand so the attribute cannot be modified. If you want to modify anattribute type delete the attribute and create a new attribute ofthe same attribute type.
  10. Select the Specific Numbers radiobutton.
  11. In the Values* box enter valuesthat are either separated by a semicolon or number ranges with adash (-). For example you can either enter 2.1; 3.2; 4.3; 6.4; 9.5;10.1; 11.2 or 2.1-6.4; 9.3-11.2.
  12. In the Increment By box enter anincrement for the number range. For example if you enter 10.2-20.2in the Values box and enter an increment of 2 the resultinglist of allowed values will be 10.212.214.216.218.2 and 20.2.
  13. Click Save.

Results

The extended decimal attribute is created and specific numbersare assigned to the decimal attribute. When you create an extendedattribute it is in the Draft status.
