IBM Support

The CPU on the host running the application is running at 100%

Troubleshooting

Problem

The CPU on the host running the application is running at 100%

Symptom

Using Gentran Integration Suite 4.3.  Also using anti-virus software Symantec Endpoint Protection V11.   Sporadically the CPU will spike to 100%.   Instances when the CPU returns to 'normal' levels and other instances where the application has to be taken down to restore CPU levels to 'normal'.   The host operating system is Windows server 2003.

Windows task manger reports noapp.exe using 60%-70% of CPU.

This is a 2 node cluster.  Most often problem occurs on the token node.  When the problem occurs queue watcher reports Business Processes are still executing.

Thread dumps indicate application is processing normally.

There were occurrences of the problem where CPU spike for Secure Proxy occurred before CPU spike in Gentran Integration Suite.   CPU spikes also occurred on the Secure Proxy hosts but typically CPU levels returned to 'normal' for the Secure Proxy hosts.

Error Message
