Symptom
The VMware ESX server may display the following red error message after booting:
Couldn't setup IRQ 11 with vector xxx
The vector number is variable.
Affected configurations
The system is configured with at least one of the following:
- VMware ESX, version 4.0, any update
This tip is not hardware specific.
This tip is not option specific.
The system has the symptom described above.

Solution
This behavior is corrected VMware ESX Server 4.0 Update 1.
The update will be available from VMware at the following URL:
Additional information
The error message can be safely ignored.
If there are more than eight (8) devices in the Multiprocessor Systems (MPS) that share the same interrupt request (IRQ) in ESX Server 4.0, this error message will be seen.
