"Could not open file" if APPDATA points to a shared network resource

Troubleshooting

Problem

In some particular environments, the APPDATA variable (that usually depends on USERPROFILE variable) is redirected to a network drive, for users' personal files to be stored on that shared resource. This variable "AppData" can be modified in thie registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders By default its value is %USERPROFILE%\Roaming but it can be modified to something like \\ServerName\Roaming or \\IP_address\Roaming. Once done, when running Architect or Perspectives for the first time, then going into File / Options, and trying to modify something ; error "Could not open file" is displayed when clicking OK, and the subdirectories \Applix\TM1 are not created in %APPDATA%, neither is tm1p.ini file in that path.

Resolving The Problem

Rather than using the UNC syntax for that resource, map it to a network drive letter.

Once AppData registry value is set to something like X:\Roaming

Architect and Perspectives are able to create and modify configuration file X:\Roaming\Applix\TM1\tm1p.ini
