Cost Performance Dimensions
The Cost Performance data mart is divided into three dimensionsor levels. The dimensions organize the reporting system into the followingcategories:
- Monthly Costs
Use this dimension to run monthly quarterly or yearly summaryreports. For many reporting solutions this dimension provides thebest performance.
- Summary Costs
Use this dimension to run summary reports for any time period.This dimension organizes the report layout so that the specific factsappear in the report columns.
Use this dimension if charge itemdetails are not required such as accessorial classes and charge andallowance codes.
- Detailed Costs
Use this dimension to run reports at the line-item detail level.You can also organize reports based on the charge type charge andallowance code or accessorial class.
This dimension organizesthe report layout so that the specific facts appear in the reportrows.
All of the Cost Performance dimensions allow youto report on a wide variety of freight costs. You can report on thefollowing types of costs:
- Rated charges
Shows the charges that Sterling TMS calculatedfor each shipment based on the rates defined in your carrier contracts.
- Billed charges
Shows the charges that your carriers submitted in their invoices.
- Vouchered charges
Shows the charges that Sterling TMS calculatedfor each shipment based on your Freight Payment rules.
- Paid charges
Shows the charges that your organization submitted to Sterling TMS in EDI 820transactions or XML.
- Base charges
Shows the charges that Sterling TMS calculatedfor each shipment from your base rate contract.
- Accrued charges
Shows the estimated charges that Sterling TMS calculatedfor each shipment based on your freight accrual contract.
Youcan report on accrual charges at both the shipment and order level.
- Freight allocation charges
Shows how shipment costs are divided among the orders in eachshipment.
For example you can have Sterling TMS allocate thetotal shipment cost among the orders based on the weight of eachorder or the distance to each stop.
Each Cost Performance dimension provides uniquefeatures you can use to develop the optimal reports you need to meetthe needs of your business.
