Troubleshooting
Problem
This document describes how to copy the licensed keys between LPARs on the same machine to avoid running the ADDLICKEY command multiple times.
Resolving The Problem
Follow this procedure if you have an IBM System i5 system with multiple LPARs running the same operating system version, release, and modification level.
This procedure will assist you with adding the license keys onto one of the LPARs, and then copy the keys to the remaining LPARs. This avoids running the ADDLICKEY command multiple times on every LPAR.
You should perform the following steps:
| 1. | Add the licensed keys information into one of your IBM i System LPARs. |
| 2. | Once you finished adding the licensed keys, type the following command on the operating system command line: DSPLICKEY OUTPUT(*LICKEYFILE) LICKEYFILE(QGPL/LICKEYFILE) Press the Enter key. |
| 3. | To save a copy of the licensed keys information, type the following commands on the operating system command line: CRTSAVF FILE(QGPL/LICKEYINFO) Press the Enter key. SAVOBJ OBJ(LICKEYFILE) LIB(QGPL) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/LICKEYINFO) DTACPR(*YES) Press the Enter key. |
| 4. | Send the save file LICKEYFILE to every LPAR and run the following commands on the operating system command line to restore the Licensed Keys information: RSTOBJ OBJ(LICKEYFILE) SAVLIB(QGPL) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/LICKEYINFO) Press the Enter key. ADDLICKEY LICKEYINP(*LICKEYFILE) LICKEYFILE(QGPL/LICKEYFILE) Press the Enter key. |
| 5. | All of the licensed keys had been added to the licensed keys repository. |
