Controlling order of paired variables in paired t-test dialog (and Two-Related-Samples Tests dialog in Nonparametric Tests)

Troubleshooting

Problem

I have a data file with the variables "pre" and "post" in it, and want to produce a paired samples t-test with the mean difference computed by subtracting the pre score from the post score. When I click on Analyze->Compare Means->Paired Samples T Test, no matter which order I use in clicking on the variables, the pair is always put into the Paired Variables box as "pre -- post" and the resulting mean difference is always pre minus post. How can I get SPSS to give me post minus pre?
