"Controller will terminate" message never disappears when trying to close Controller client

Troubleshooting


Problem

System has been working correctly for a long time (many weeks). Suddenly, one day when a user clicks 'File - Exit' (inside Controller client) a message appears. This message never disappears. User finds that they cannot exit/quit Controller. Problem affects many/all users.

Symptom


IBM Cognos Controller
Controller will terminate.
