IBM Support

Consolidated Installer for Windows GIM and STAP

Product Documentation

Abstract

The IBM Guardium GIM client installer can also automatically install other modules (e.g. S-TAP) during the initial GIM installation without having to push the modules from the server.

Content

The consolidated installers are to help automate the install of GIM and agents such as STAP or FAM on the server side in one step.  You do need to download both the GIM and STAP installation packages to use this feature.

First, the GIM is installed, and then it installs the agent.

Here are the steps:
1. Copy the GIM installer to the database server.

2. Create a new folder called "deploy" in the GIM installer directory.

3. Examine the conf.reload.* files and make any configuration changes for your environment.  For example, the sqlguard IP setting or the ELB settings.

4. Copy into this folder the conf.reload files for STAP (and FAM if using) and the SIGNED files.  Under Gim-Kits, you can find the file "conf.reload.WINSTAP".  In the GIM install package, you can find the file "conf.reload.FAM".

5. Run the GIM installer, e.g. "setup.exe -UNATTENDED -AUTO_ASSIGN_IP 1 -APPLIANCE <IP>" (GIM pointing to GIM Server).

Result:  The S-TAP is installed with all components located under the guardium install directory along with GIM.  First GIM will be installed and then it will install the packages in the /deploy directory from step 2.
