Question & Answer
Question
Can you connect to an IBM Rational license server through a proxy (server)?
Cause
Applications use the Java libraries from FLEX. FLEX does not support communication through a Proxy Server for its JAVA libraries.
Answer
- Version 8.x:
Applications using the 8.x version of Rational Common Licensing client libraries will not face any problems in contacting the License Server in a network where HTTP traffic is routed through a HTTP Proxy Server. - In Rational Common Licensing v8.x, the Java client libraries use the native C client libraries to perform actual licensing functions.
- Communication between C client libraries and the Rational license (key) server happens through the TCP/IP layer. It does not go through the HTTP layer; hence any HTTP Proxy Server will be ignored.
- Version 7.x:
Applications using the 7.x version of Rational Common Licensing client libraries may face problems contacting the License Server in a network where HTTP traffic is routed through a HTTP Proxy Server.
