Connect:Direct Java API attempted connection -Error: Connection Exception! Unexpected IOException in CommunicationBuffer::Receive().

Troubleshooting

Problem

Remote client using Connect:Direct Java API gets error trying to attach to Connect:Direct UNIX - attempted connection -Error: Connection Exception! Unexpected IOException in CommunicationBuffer::Receive().

Symptom

This issue involves a Connect:Direct for UNIX server that is at maximum API connections when a new remote client connection is attempted.

In this scenario, Connect:Direct for UNIX CMGR sends a positive response to the client connection, then attempts to register itself with the PMGR. The PMGR refuses the registration because it is at maximum API connections and CMGR exits. Then the client attempts to issue a command which fails because the server side has gone away.
