CONNECT THE DWC 9.5 TO A z/OS ENVIRONMENT

Troubleshooting

Problem

TO CONNECT THE DWC 9.5 TO A z/OS SERVER,  FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS:
  • On z/OS side check for the message EQQPH50I in the server MLOG, the message display the IP address and port used by the server for the TCP/IP communication
  • On DWC side customize the connectionFactory.xml file, it locate under : Inst_dir\DWC\usr\servers\dwcServer\configDropins\templates\zconnectors and copy it under the dir.: Inst_dir\DWC\usr\servers\dwcServer\configDropins\overrides
This is an example on how you can define TWO engine on the z-connector side:
 <server description="zonnector_configuration">
    <!-- replace all variables with the proper connection property values -->
    <connectionFactory id="TW3X "                                                            => this is the engine name
         jndiName="eis/tws/zconn/TW3X ">                                                  => this the engine name
         <properties.ZOSConnectorAdapter hostName="xx.xx.xxx.xxx"      => Server STC hostname (see message EQQPH50I in the server MLOG)
                                         portNumber="xxxx"                                           => port number used by server (see message EQQPH50I in the server MLOG)
                                         useSsl="false"
                                         connectionTimeoutCleanup="10"/>
    </connectionFactory>
   <connectionFactory id="TW5X"
         jndiName="eis/tws/zconn/TW5X">
        <properties.ZOSConnectorAdapter hostName="YY.YYY.YYY.YYY"
                                        portNumber="YYYY"
                                        useSsl="false"
                                        connectionTimeoutCleanup="10"/>
   </connectionFactory>
</server>
  • On DWC side define a new engine, go in the Manage Engine panel, and click NEW; in the engine name field put  a name (it could be the same name defined for the zosconnector Engine);
       * in the ENGINE TYPE field choose z/OS;
        * in the HOSTNAME field leave localhost;

      * in the Port Number field specify the port 19402 (this is the default port, if during the installation has been used a different set of port verify the value:
          variable name="host.bootstrap.port.sec" value="  in the ports.xml file under the dir.: Inst_dir\DWC\usr\servers\dwcServer\configDropins\     overrides);

  • In the REMOTE SERVER NAME field you need to specify the name you specified in the connectionFactory.xml file (see the connectionFactory id)
         * in the USER and PASSWORD field specify your user and password.
  • On the z/OS side, verify the USERMAP table member (it is specified in the SERVOPTS statement) and update it with the following information
         * USER 'user@hostname*'  RACFUSER(USER)

NOTE: DWC must be at the SAME RELEASE or GREATER compared to zWS controller.
For zWS 9.5 the ONLY choice for DWC release is 9.5.
For IWSz 9.3 by the same logic the DWC can be 9.3 or 9.4 or 9.5.
