Configuring users and groups
Users who want to use the solution must have a portal useraccount that is assigned to the required groups and roles of IBM? Work Optimization for Water Utilities.
User authentication is associated with authorization rights thatgive the user access to the appropriate features and data. IBM Work Optimization for Water Utilities takes advantageof the user and group management interface that is provided by the IBM Intelligent Operations Center and base architecture.It also integrates with the existing security infrastructure for singlesign-on. User access is managed by WebSphere? Portal which hosts boththe IBM Intelligent Operations Center and IBM Work Optimization for Water Utilities solutions. The Portal server draws on the Tivoli? Directory Server as the LightweightDirectory Access Protocol (LDAP) database for IBM Work Optimization for Water Utilities and the IBM Intelligent Operations Center.
Portal administrator
The WebSphere Portal administrator thatwas created during the initial deployment of IBM Intelligent Operations Center can assign usersto the IBM Work Optimization for Water Utilities groupsand roles. Portal administrators belong to an Administrator group wpsadmins.You can add additional users to the administrator group as needed.
Assigning permissions
If your users areexisting users of IBM Intelligent Operations Centerthey already have a user ID and password and only need to be addedto the required groups and roles of IBM Work Optimization for Water Utilities. The groupsor roles that a user is assigned to determine what features in theproduct they can use.

Importing users and groups
If your IBM Work Optimization for Water Utilities users are notexisting IBM Intelligent Operations Center usersyou can import your users from an external LDAP directory source intothe solution.
