How do I configure OSLC server friends and project links for use by all nodes in a load balanced ClearQuest Web environment?
Cause
The settings for the "Cross-Server Communication" and "Project Relationships" ClearQuest Site Administration options are stored in files with the WebSphere Application Server profile where the settings were applied. In a load balanced environment, the OSLC configuration changes are not automatically kept consistent across all load balanced servers. So, it is possible for different users to see different remote repository list contents when attempting to create new OSLC links.
Answer
When adding new server friends and project links, each server in a load balanced environment must be individually updated to maintain consistent behavior across the load balanced system. Use the instructions from the IBM Rational ClearQuest Information Center to make identical updates to all ClearQuest Web servers that are included in the system.
Alternatively, you can make the changes on one server in the load balanced system, and then copy the changed configuration files to the other servers in the system. The file paths of the affected OSLC configuration files are as follows:
<WebSphere profile path>\installedApps\dfltCell\TeamEAR.ear\cqweb.war\WEB-INF\classes\friendsconfig.rdf
<WebSphere profile path>\installedApps\dfltCell\TeamEAR.ear\cqweb.war\WEB-INF\classes\project-area-links.rdf
After copying the configuration files, you must restart each server to apply the updated configuration settings.
