How do you manually set up automatic deployment of backup-archive clients?


Tip: The product now known as IBM Spectrum Protect™ was named IBM Tivoli®Storage Manager in releases earlier than Version 7.1.3. To learn more about the rebranding transition, see technote 1963634.

The backup-archive client automatic deployment feature helps you schedule updates to one or more backup-archive clients. The updates can be fix packs or new releases.

To update to a new level or release, you must have previously installed the backup-archive client.

You can use the Administration Center V6.3.4.300 with a Tivoli® Storage Manager V7.1 or later server to automatically deploy backup-archive clients. However, starting with V7,1, the Administration Center component is no longer included in Tivoli Storage Manager distributions. If you do not have the Administration Center installed, you can use IBM Spectrum Protect server commands to automatically deploy client upgrades as described in the attached PDF.
