Configuration File (QAFFCFG) Information

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document provides information to help you understand the Facsimile Support QAFFCFG configuration file.

Resolving The Problem

QAFFCFG is a physical file that contains the configuration information for Facsimile Support. It contains a member for each of the Fax Description names. Currently the product has a PRTFAXCFG command that retrieves the information from this configuration file and generates a chart with the information. With new changes and additional fields that have been added, this command does not retrieve all fields.

To quickly determine the configuration, use the DSPPFM QAFFCFG command. If there is more than one fax description, the member name must also be specified.

Following is an example of the QAFFCFG configuration File:

Display of the QAFFCFG file.

There are three lines (unless this is an IFA, which could possibly have four):

o The line starting with MAST below the ruler is what is configured on the CRTFAXD command. The fields and objects are listed below:

Field       Object
  1-6  Master record (always MAST01)
 7-12  Fax Controller name
15-22  Device name
32-38  Fax Send Output Queue
49  Letter to help determine what hardware was configured:
I means it is configured as a 2761
F means it is an IFA (2664)
          A means it is a 7852-400 Modem
          S means it is a 2771 or 2772
          B means it is a 2805, 2793, 576C and DID Modem
50-59  Line Description
60-69  Resource name
80  Print TSI BANNER  (Y if turned on or N if off)
81  TSI Position  (I is for insert which is default)

Note: This is a guide. At times, it can be in error if something is not configured properly or if the proper hardware code is not applied.
oThe line starting with JOBS is used to determine if fax is started and indicates the user that started fax support.

Fields
1-6    Jobs record (always JOBS01)
7-11  Flags on the status of the fax jobs and their meanings:
I inactive
A active
S starting
E ending

Note: You typically never want to see this with an S or an E.
oThe line starting with FAX1 is what was specified on the ADDFAXCRD command:

Fields
1-6   Fax card record (always FAX101)
7-14  Fax card function  (*BOTH, *SEND, *RECEIVE)
15-21  Library for the Receive File
25-31  Receive File name
35-41  Library for the Receive Dataq
45-52  Receive Dataq
55-75  TSI Banner  (Transmitting Identifier)
75-79  Dial Type
   83  Dial Retry
84-86  Retry Delay
87-90  Error Correction Mode
93  Print TSI banner  (Yes or No - copied form the MAST record)
94  TSI position (Insert or Overlay the Banner - copied from the MAST record)
95-99  Direct Connect Type
  100  Prefix Number
  110  Return negative response
  111  Dual Tone Multi-Frequency

Note: If you would like to keep a record of each of the fax descriptions configured, use the following:
