Concurrent Usage's Utilization on TRIRIGA Application Platform

Question & Answer

Question

How can I better understand how TRIRIGA measures Concurrent Licenses?

Answer

How the data is collected by the IBM TRIRIGA Concurrent License Agent:

As long as IBM TRIRIGA is running, every ten minutes the Concurrent License Agent checks the IBM TRIRIGA active session database table to get a list and count of all active users at that moment.

Once it has the total users, it gets the total count of each license ID that is assigned to those users cumulatively, and logs the information in the LICENSE_METRIC table.

If there are no active users at the time of the snapshot, no entries are recorded in the table.

What the License Usage Report is showing you:

The "License Usage Reports" (Hourly, Daily or Monthly) get the maximum number of users who logged

in to IBM TRIRIGA, per license, over the selected period of time:

The Hourly License Usage Report for Selected Day will run for the day selected, and return the maximum amount of users per license, by hour, for the day selected.

The Daily License Usage Report for Selected Month will run for the month selected, and return the maximum amount of users per license, by day, for the month selected.

The Monthly License Usage Report for Selected Year will run for the year selected, and return the maximum amount of users per license, by month, for the year selected.
