Problem
This technote addresses an error received from the IBM® DB2® client when trying to configure IBM Rational® ClearQuest® for use with the DB2 database alias.

Communication function detecting the error: protocol specific error codes: "79", "*", "*" SQLState =08001
Check to see if the DB2 TCP/IP NODE that was created for use with ClearQuest client is different than the TCP/IP port used by the DB2 service on the database server.[]
