Question & Answer
Question
Q1. There are currently 2 columns named "CODE" and "NAME" which are defined and automatically included in every reference data type that we model. However, we do not want these columns defined in some of the content. How can we change them so that they are not always required by default without affecting content already modeled based on those columns?
Q2. If there is no safe way to modify the base reference data type, how can we model our data without using it: Do we need to switch to a completely different development environment, or can we somehow isolate our content from existing content built using this base reference data type (separate hierarchies or separate content)?
Q3. Can we redefine the base reference data type without affecting the existing content? If not, can we define a more flexible model that can accommodate optional columns? Is there any published best practice or MDM resource that can aid?
Answer
