Troubleshooting
Problem
Customer migrated to MS SQL 2008 64 bit Server with MS SQL 2008 32 bit Client, which is a correct configuration for Cognos Controller 10.1.1 for example. But on logging into Cognos Controller via the Client and selecting a database, gets error as follows:
Symptom
COMException (0x800A0E7A): The provider can not be found.
System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Die Anforderung konnte vom
Server nicht verarbeitet werden. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.
COMException (0x800A0E7A): Der Provider kann nicht gefunden werden.
Möglicherweise ist er nicht richtig installiert worden.
or
Error occured at 24/05/2012 13:49:48 in IBM Cognos Controller, Error No=5, Source=FrangoDirect.ServerInfoD.GetDBRelease#ControllerProxyClient, Description=System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800A0E7A): Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.
