Cognos Analytics logon screen hangs (after typing in username/password) followed by "Invalid login response" error (during Controller client launch) solved by killing CA process 'CAM_LPServer.exe'

Troubleshooting


Problem

User launches Controller client. User chooses database, and then is prompted to authenticate to the 'IBM Cognos Analytics' namespace. After typing in the username/password, the authentication window appears to 'hang'.
This Cognos Analytics logon hang lasts for 1-2 minutes. Afterwards, an error appears.
Problem only affects some users. Many users can successfully logon to Controller (no problems).

Symptom

After typing in the username/password, the logon screen hangs for 1-2 minutes. Eventually the following error appears:
