Troubleshooting
Problem
If you use the Code Coverage feature in IBM® Rational Application Developer (RAD), you notice that the Data File is located on the file system option is missing from the Code Coverage Data Import wizard.
Symptom
The following steps reproduce the problem:
- Select a Java project
- Select Run > Java Code Coverage > Generate Report... > Run
- Right-click a Java file and select Open With > Java Editor in the resulting Code Coverage Report > Element list
- EXPECTED RESULT: The Java file opens and its code is visible.
- ACTUAL RESULT: The Java file never opens, as it tries to connect to a remote repository that cannot be reached because you are working in an offline environment.
- Select the Java project
- Select Run > Java Code Coverage > Import...
- EXPECTED RESULT: The Code Coverage Data Import wizard screen has the Data File is located on the file system option
- ACTUAL RESULT: The Data File is located on the file system option is missing from the wizard
In RAD v9.6.x, this option is available in the wizard.

Cause
The Code Coverage option was removed from the Import wizard in later RAD versions.
For RAD v9.7.x, there are other steps to get the same result.
Resolving The Problem
To open the same Code Coverage Data File import dialog in RAD v9.7.x, perform the following steps:
- Open the Code Coverage Results view
- Right-click Java Code Coverage Workspace Results
- Select the Import... option
- RESULT: The Code Coverage Data File Import wizard appears and it contains the Data File is located on the file system radio button option.
To import a code coverage data file, an associated project is required. Follow these steps to import a code coverage data file:
- Import a Java project with the File > Import > General > Existing Projects into Workspace menu option
- Open the Package Explorer view and right-click on the project to open its Properties dialog
- Select the Java Code Coverage option, check the Enable code coverage checkbox, and click the Apply and Close button
- Open the Code Coverage Results view and right-click on the Java Code Coverage Workspace Results entry
- Select the Import... option to open the Code Coverage Data File Import dialog, select the Data File is located on the file system option, and click the Next button
- Click the Browse... button to select the coverage data file to import, check the checkbox associated with the imported project, and click the Finish button
- Expand the Java Code Coverage Workspace Results from the Code Coverage Results view
- RESULT: The imported code coverage results appear within the workspace results.
If you then double-click the imported result within the workspace's results, the detailed coverage report opens in the Eclipse web browser.
