Closing a Work Item as Duplicate does not require a duplicate Work Item to be specified

Troubleshooting


Problem

Closing a workitem that uses a workflow which has a Duplicate Resolution selected in IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC) does not required a duplicate Work Item to be specified.

Cause

The default Resolve Action which was specified in the workflow did not have the same resolution as was selected for the Duplicate Resolution what is required.

Resolving The Problem

Procedure:

  1. Open workflow for the affected Work Item type.

  2. Check what is the action which was set as a Resolve action and what is the Duplicate Resolution in case of this workflow, see picture below:



  3. Select the action from step 2 in the Actions section and set the Duplicate Resolution as a possible Resolution for this action, see picture below.



  4. Save the process.

All actions with the resolution set as Duplicate Resolution will now require a duplicated Work Item.
