CLI0150E error received when using the DB2 Content Manager Client for Windows.

Question & Answer

Question

Attempting to perform certain operations using the DB2® Content Manager Client for Windows® results in the following error: [IBM][CLI Driver] CLI0150E Driver not capable. SQLSTATE=HYC00.

Answer

If you are able to log on to the DB2 Content Manager Client for Windows and perform basic operations such as import, search, and retrieve and are also able to log on to the DB2 Content Manager system administration client and perform some operations such as create item types, but not others, such as creating a worknode, the problem might be that the DB2 SPAS address space is not started.

Another possibility is that DB2 ZPARM DESCSTAT is not set to YES. DB2 Content Manager clients use the DB2 CLI interface, and as such require that DESCSTAT be set to yes. See the referenced DB2 technote for a DESCSTAT discussion.

If you are receiving a CLI0150E error with different symptoms, enable DB2 CLI trace at the client machine, then analyze the resultant CLI trace to find the associated SQLCODE and reason code to determine the source of the problem.
