ClearTeam Explorer: Restarting the client is required after updating the URL of a 7.x view

Problem

When you update the URL of a 7.x view in IBM Rational ClearCase ClearTeam Explorer 8.0, you need to restart the client before you can continue using that view. If you do not restart the client, you can encounter errors when trying to view "My Activities" or creating a new UCM activity and setting it as current in the view.

Symptom

When you select the "My Activities" node after updating the URL of a 7.x view to the 8.0 URL, you can get the following error: "An internal error occurred during : 'Getting my activities'. cachedUniActivity should not be null". You might also see this error while trying to create a new activity in a view whose URL you just updated.

Resolving The Problem

To resolve the problem, restart ClearTeam Explorer.
